BLUESOLOGY 2018 IS FULL!
** WHAT IS BLUESOLOGY? **
A weekend of classes and facilitated sessions with us, dedicated to developing your teaching and scene building skills.
We strongly believe that being a dance teacher requires two very specific skills: the skill of dancing, and the skill of teaching. A great dancer does not necessarily make a great teacher, and vice versa!
Bluesology will focus entirely on your teaching skills. The sessions will combine theoretical knowledge of pedagogy — the method and practice of teaching — with practical exercises, so you can put theory into practice.
Weekend workshop: 8-10 June 2018...
Optional extra day on Monday 11 June
Information about the venue coming soon...
More things you should know...
We have space for 32 people to attend the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), and only 16 people on the Monday.
There will be 2 groups over the weekend, grouped depending on your previous teaching experience.
The maximum group size will be 16 people.
The weekend will be tailor made for those people who register. The exact topics covered during the sessions will depend on the needs of the group, however possible subjects include:
* How to come up with material
* Class planning
* Teaching the perfect taster class
* Teaching multi-level classes
* Giving equal importance to followers and leaders
* Managing a class
* Working well with your teaching partner
* Communication skills
* Feedback and evaluation
* How to maintain students
...and many more...
EXTRA CURRICULAR FUN!
In addition to the daytime teacher training classes we also want to provide the opportunity for you to deepen your knowledge about blues music and dance. Prior to the weekend we will provide you with some required reading. During the weekend you will have access to our library of blues books, we will organise a movie night, and we will encourage and facilitate discussions about all things blues.
Weekend fee (Friday, Saturday, Sunday): €150
Additional fee for Monday: €50
